I was driving from Glasgow to Cupar today when my old Mercedes run out of Diesel. The gauge had started to lie a couple of days ago, but what with the sunstroke I have from the weather, I forgot.
Anyway, I managed to coast off the M876 or some other 3 digit motorway, and rolled into Denny (I think)
I asked a bird at a nearby bus stop where the nearest garage was and she said it was at least a couple of miles away.
The distance didn't scare me, but the weather did!
I saw this bloke walking towards me so I stopped and asked him if there was a Petrol station nearer.
He said "Nae bother, I'll take you in ma car"
So this guy walked home, got his car and took me to a garage. He waited for me to buy a can and then took me back.
He refused to take any money from me.
So, I tipped the diesel in, and because this old thing has no manual primer, I flattened my battery trying to start it.
I was sitting and saying "Bollix" for the 3 hundredth time when the same guy (he had taken his car home and was walking back to the paper shop) tapped on my window and asked if everything was alright.
I told him my battery was flat and he said "nae bother, I'll walk back and get me car"
He came back, Jumped my car started, refused any money and left.
What an good person! What a nice race of people.
