  • Steering Idler Question

    Goodmorning all

I need to fit a new steering idler for my MOT. Got one delivered from Roughtrax yesterday (excellent service). The new idler has a grease nipple to be fitted on the side of the body but the old one doesn't. My main question is: Do I fit the nipple & fill the unit with grease? If yes what kind? And why doesn't the old one have this? Would that make it some sort of prefilled & sealed unit?

Now before anyone points out the obvious Roughtrax is closed at the weekend otherwise I'd call & ask them. I haven't done this job before so some good advice would be most welcome.

    Thanks in advance

Yes fit the nipple and Grease it with Moly Grease, thats what I did many moons ago and all is still fine. BTW I beleive the old Toyota ones can be repaired so dont sling it.
