Tyre question?

I would like to fit Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tyres on my Surf, but it seems they do not make them in a size 265/70 R16. I can only find them in a 265/75 R16, but I am not sure if they will fit and if it will affect handling and mpg. Not sure if 265/70/17 will fit.
Can some knowledgeable soul please enlighten me otherwise it looks like I will be getting BFGs.
Truck is mainly used on road for commuting, towing and occasional getting off a wet field.

The 75's will fit fine mate, they just fill the arch a bit more but they won't rub.

The overall diameter is only about another 2"on the 265/75/15. They should still fit ok. Not too sure about the tread characteristics to comment on handling and MPG.

It is a 3rd Gen so tyres are 265/70 R16 at present. Thanks for the heads up ln the 265/75 R16.

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant 16, not 15.

You weren't being ignored. I would never do something like that to a fellow surfer and I did thank you for the heads up on that! Now I just need some feedback on the Duratrac tyres although on the American 4 runner site they seem to be having some good reviews for normal road handling.

Can't really comment on the duratrac tyres as I've never had a set but good luck with it.

Strange, I also have 265/75/16 AT2's on the 3rd gen but I do get some tyre rub. It's only slight and happens when at half lock and under load.

I have always wondered if the truck had been lowered due to the extremely hard ride and excellent road handling? Will have a quick search on the standard ride hight on the 3rd gens.

A search on here will probably throw up the fact that several people have fitted 265/75/16's to stock 3rd gens and some have had rubbing while others haven't ...

the goodyears arent great, they get good reviews in usa because the roads and weather suit the tyres they use, friend had them on a shogun and they were pants, constant spinning out of car boot sale parking spaces. (grass)

personally i would go bfg's harder wearing and better grip. plus no rubbing worries and are they cheaper?

Taking all above into consideration plus other posts and not wanting to take a chance, I think BFGs it will be. This of course is if the missus does not buy a LC first.

I would have gone for the BFG's myself but I got such a good deal on the GG's I could'nt let it pass.

Roughtrax are doing BFGs for £120 each which I think is a very good price. May get 4 within the next few days.
