As a young lad growing up I lusted? after my Uncles Land Rover it was a late series 1 pick up with a V8 and big chunky tyres and bucket seats,I think that was my start of my "obsession" with 4x4 and I will admit to owning three land rovers , with regards to the question there are far too many choices and far too many cars that I haven't even considered ,however for me it would be a toss up between as much skyline as I could get for 6k or probably the easiest route,west on the M4 and give my Surf and the 6k to Vince and wait for him to work his magic.
