got given today a 4x4 with plates ***MZU the vehicle is from R.O.I. but i have no idea what year is it, due the old owner is looking for the log book.
do any of you know?
thanks
Black on red was a rear plate, and being MZU means it's 1986 or older; our current system of year-county-number came in on 01/01/1987. Black on white was a front plate.
MZU is, according to that list, Dublin. AZU 1 to YZU 999 are between March 1969 and February 1970, which would make MZU probably late 1969.
You could ring your local tax office; they should be able to give you the details, and they tend to be helpful. Try to get the original logbook, too; they were a big brown thing, and you don't see many of them anymore.
You could get the Tarbert ferry just south of Limerick and head to Doolin, where your friend could get the ferry, letting you head back to Ennis and up to Longford. Worth checking the times; could save you a bit of a trip.
