  • Surfing (as a tourist) in Devon.

Just back from a fortnight in Devon (Near Ilfracombe). We saw dozens of Surfs and, much to the embarrassment of Mrs KS, I waved to all of them. Only one decided to wave back. I'm darn sure that one that I waved to had a forum sticker in the window ( alas, it wasn't the one that waved back ) but I suppose it could have been sold with a sticker already on the screen.

We saw Surfs with Surf boards on the roof, towing boats, towing caravans, parked up at Tarr Steps ( the ford is fun :O) ) launching a boat at Ilfracombe harbour and towing trailers of sheep/horses etc.

    Alec Benford is King!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    It's only a hobby!

We too have just returned from 2 weeks not in Devon but touring with the caravan in sw Scotland and nw England but saw very few Surfs and without exception those we did see all responded to my infantile (as SHE puts it) light flashing and waving with a sort of "'kinells the matter with you look" or I got totally blanked.Didnt put me off though. Surf performed like a dream especially in the Lake District lugging 1300kgs of caravan up and down some serious hills.Fuel consumption I thought pretty good at average of 18mpg towing and 23 solo, and used about a litre of lub oil..
    The grin just gets wider

yep, there are more surfs down here than ford escorts...and guess what....non of them have ever waved at me either. however, i havent waved at them...BUT! i am always ready to as i have a 'ready to wave' hand courtisy of having to drive a mini 'cos they wave at each other religiously!
the thing is, i always look and if the driver looks at me, then i will acknowledge.

and the only perfect and bestest surf in da whole wide world....MINE !
        and it NOT blue
        or Black !

it's THE COLOUR, the ONLY colour, the magnificent and breath taking colour...
        Green !

Dont really know! got bored one morning waiting for the boss to get ready and lifted the bonnet, the paranoia that has set in since joining the forum usually has me checking the cooling system every couple of days but as I found the dipstick this time decided to check it and chucked in a small container of magnatec. On reflection it may have been 1/2 a litre but the full bottle brought the level up from the low mark to the full one, must pay more attention. I have to admit though that it is the first oil I have had to add to the beast in the 4000kms since I bought it.

don't know how much oil a diesel will use?

truck at work will use 2-5 litres a week but they're 40ton and do a lot of miles and 11 litre engines.... in a year my surf hasn't used any and i do give it a lot of stick!... but there again i once had a sprinter van which used loads of oil and that was brand new!
