Thanks for the advice more food for thought .
I do a bit of gas welding and silver soldering for work.
Got to admit though if I could make frames like that I would be well chuffed.

The main reason for getting the welder will be for surf related projects ie panhard bar extension ,intercooler piping and the like

No pedal, but there are more fine tuning knobs on it than a space shuttle!

Got an arc reactive mask though.

you don't really need a foot pedal vince - set the pulse on it and it raises and lowers the current between puddles. the pulse is great for thin ally sheet - very little distorsion and heat build up. find the frequency sweet spot for the type of ally your'e on and it also makes a big difference.

all i did with that welder was thin ally work

ps - it works low enough to weld 2 coke cans together - i tried it.

I thought I liked it ,slightly out of my £300 welder budget ....

it was over £2000 when i bought it 10 years ago and was a great machine to use - iv'e seen them second hand for sale recently at the £400 mark - worth a punt if they work.

iv'e had a miller aerowave for the past 5 years and its about the best iv'e ever had a go on but the little one vince has does everything the miller does and its portable. the new inverter ac/dc tigs are great to use.
