Gout !

Have any of you fellow Surfers ever suffered from Gout ? I am having what the Doctor described as a very nasty attack on my toe joint. I have learnt that it is Uric Acid in the Blood which forms Crystalls in the Blood, these Crystalls then go to a joint, in my case my toe, and harden causing extreme pain. My Doctor has given me a small tablet called Colchicine this sends the Cystalls to my Bowel which is not very pleasant in its self. Hope this helps a tad with any of you who are suffering.

Lots of water with lemon juice.

The water flushes out the kidneys and lemon removes uric acid.

But not as painfull kidney stones, now they
really do hurt!!!!!

I've had a kidney stone. What a treat that was.

The problem with gout is that you get to keep it for ever. I've a mate with it and he's had to learn to manage his drinking very carefully to avoid attacks as much as he can.

The best advice I know is to keep hydrated, not drink too much and lay off the foie gras for a while.

My dad gets gout. He swears by eating cherries.
