  • Air Bag Warning Light

    Hi All,

Changed steering rack today, fairly straight forward job and drives much better.

Airbag warning light is now on, comes on as usual at position two before starting engine then once started goes out for a second and then comes back on and stays on. There is a slight click at various points as I turn the steering wheel (same points every time) and it sounds plasticy. Indicators self cancel but horn not working.

Any ideas? Steering wheel was not removed at any point.

    Cheers

    Ben

Steering wheel not put back in the same position, or the indicator stalk was not centred first?

      Obviously not so straight forward...

Sounds like the earth connection for steering wheel is disconnected, could be related to the clicking noise too, you may need to take wheel off and check the connections behind the wheel, and look for how they connect from column to the looms.

        Thanks guys,

Will have a look, a quick search tells me that I have probably turned the wheel too far whilst the rag joint was disconnected. Other than these little issues, it was less of a ball ache than I thought it was going to be.

Does the permanent airbag light mean it is disabled or likely to go off at any time without warning?

        Cheers

        Ben
