= no movementr in either direction, without movement there is no air flow over the wings so no lift
Get on your treadmill with some roller blades, and see for yourself how hard it is to pull yourself to the front of the belt using the grab bars. That kind of resistance isn't going to hold an airplane back, no matter how fast the belt is moving.

Just out of interest, Where the hell would you find a conveyor belt, big enough to get a full size plane on? secondly, why would you want to?

The plane will never take off, cos the terrorists put a bomb on it & it's blown to lots & lots & lots....etc..... of very little pieces.....
It's only kinky the first time...

But where would the pieces land?
The conveyer is moving at the same speed as the plane remember? The conveyer is long enough, and wide enough.
Part of the plane is moving forward at 2000 mph due to the explosion, another part is moving backwards at a similar speed. where does the wreckage land?

If you're travelling on a train doing 90mph and throw a ball towards the front of the train, what speed is the ball travelling at?
            Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

                Ahhh, post pub post.

I don't really care about the wording of the question, that's just for people with philosophy 'qualifications', not the rest of us.

If the aircraft has airflow over its wings, it will fly. If it doesn't, it wont. Something providing movement against its direction of flight on the wheels, be it a conveyor belt, weird moving tarmac, custard, a stack of turtles or whatever matters not a jot.

If you want to get caught up in the semantics, that's fine, and good luck in your career as a philosophising McDonalds drive through server.

You thought you had a bad week, I just took off a brand new head I fitted wednesday as its making odd noises to find valve shaped dents in all the pistons.

It will be on Monday for the company that supplied it with all the valves machined in the wrong place!

I already re-did all the valve clearances as they where all wrong as well.
