  • Fluid Capacities

    Hi All,

After a bit of info, just about to do a service and change out the steering rack......

Does anyone know approx how much PAS fluid the whole system takes?

Also going to change brake fluid but again I'm not sure how much I will need to change the whole lot.

Whilst I'm doing this, I will also change ATF, going to use the drain & refill method a few times over next few weeks rather than the bucket method. Never changed ATF, I take it the drain plug is the one stamped with DII?

    Thanks in advance.

Do search Ben, I am sure you will find, it plus other interesting info along the way.

I did try a search but it I've not found any reference to the quantities of fluid required for either a rack or brake fluid change.

      Cheers

I recently flushed my PS system with DexIII ATF, I can tell you it took less than 2L of fluid, but I can't remember if 1 jug was enough.

Brake fluid quantity would be a fairly useless figure, your going to need extra for the bleeding procedure which inevitably will be waste once done. About a litre of brake fluid should be sufficient to do a change.

2 litres of power steering fluid should be enough for refilling the system.

I had a crack on the Ness today as I had to go down to pay in a cheque anyway, saw nothing touched nothing. Had a pleasant drive home though through Beauly, Conon Bridge etc (The A9 is somewhat tiresome this far north) as the sun was setting which was nice
Had to pick up Filters, Oil etc as well today so tomorrow may be messy
