  • Strange day yesterday...

Driving home from seeing my folks along the A49, spirits high whilst listening to Arsenal caning Spurs on 5 Live in the sunshine when I come across the chilling sight of a police car parked across the road, and the copper turning people round in the layby, and a paramedic doing CPR on a biker lying in the middle of the road.

Pretty sickening. Just read in the Hereford times that he died at the scene. 37 years old.

Do you know what happened? Not very nice to see or read about at all. However, I bet you will still see bikers well in excess of the speed limit and overtaking at those speeds.
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

Don't really know, other than newspaper says only the bike was involved. It's a straight bit of road though. Maybe he was avoiding something?

There was loads bikes on the road yesterday with it being sunny, but can't say I noticed anyone doing anything crazy / massive speeds.

Any loss of life in these situations is always regrettable ,it will be someone's father, son, husband, friend.

While we may never know the exact reason for the crash,be it mechanical failure ,swerving to avoid something,or error on the part of the rider the result is unfortunately the same.

My condolences go out to those who have suffered from this loss.

If and I am not suggesting this is the reason but if any of you are returning to biking after a break you may want to consider looking at a refresher course.

As in all walks of life - shit happens.

Just shook me a bit to see the poor chap lying there in the road with the medic trying to save his life.

I was the first car behind a crash between a moped and a car - the rider got thrown across the carriageway. I thought it was a bin liner being thrown from the window of the car for a moment, then realised it wasn't
It is sickening, and for me was very sureal. I dialed the services, and they duley arrived. A very morbid scene, I never found out what happened to the lad on the bike, but he did get whisked away with the lights and sirens on.
It was the pool of blood leaking out his helmet i will always remember, together with the uncontrolled anger and rage from his dad, who arrived looking for someone to blame - I suppose its only natural....
$hit does happen, so step back, think, and take your time folks, no matter what you are doing.

Most of us live our lives blissfully unaware of death around us unless it happens to one of our own. My brother law was assualted by a taxi driver after a night out and died when his head hit the pavement, he was 39. I was looking for the results of the coroners report online and found this

I couldnt stop myself reading them (morbid curosity I suppose). But if we live our lives worried about the what if's, we would never live

As a two wheeled fiend as well as 4wd lots of fatalities are caused by born again bikers who dont realise modern bikes are a lot quicker than old Matchless,Norton or Triumph they last rode,The same in spring riders who have not ridden all winter then rush out at first sunny day and dont realise how rusty they have become, result hurts at least at worst death occurs.

As some of you know my son died as the result of a traffic accident he was only 25, so every time I hear of a young person dying from whatever cause it makes me so sad. its the ones left behind that have to try and pick up the pieces of their broken hearts....

                    Take care out there..

I take it you've had a few bikes before then?
Only say this as sporty Kawasaki's aren't for beginners!

Had a couple of 600's in the past, CBR & GPZ so hopefully I should be ok.
