v5 changed without asking

last july i got the letter from boris about the LEZ so i sent my logbook in to get changed to estate and they sent it back without change so i sent it back 3 more times with pictures letters etc and 3 times i got it back saying that my car was properly registered and it cannot be changed so i gave up and phoned TFL and got it taken off the register yippee,i then put paperwork away and forgot about it then yesterday morning through the post i get a logbook for my car with estate car on it ?? so i had 6 months of stress from DVLA for nothing i think the least they could have done is put a covering sorry for being so useless and narrow minded letter in with the v5.


I had 6 months of undue stress and they dont think they should appologise ? if it was the other way round i am sure i would have been fined for something

Just be thankfull they got it right on the new log book! I'd have expected to have to go through it all again!

Yep and when I got mine it said "skeletal vehicle" which is something to do with artics or lorries. I returned it pointing out the error telling them it should be an estate. When I eventually got it back it had turned it in to an MPV. Ive accepted that as I believe MPV should be OK for this LEZ thing. Ive no plans to drive the Surf to London, but as Edinburgh are more than a bit "anti car" Im thinking of the future, and who knows I might sell it someday and when that day comes it might be better if it meets these LEZ things. Just like to add that Im not at all stressed.

Its 100% TRUE. When they send you the new red one, they enclose a note telling you this.

So the cars that I have that are registered at previous addresses still, will have had new V5's posted out?

Always something new to do isn't there?
