  • London Emisions zone

Hi Guys this is my first thread , I have recently found out that my `96 Surf is non compliant ? why ? it is taxed PLG as my log book, it is not a pickup but the normal five seat with boot as a car ,it does not have an add on rear cover but a normal Hilux rear , lift up rear door, I have heard that if I phone Toyota and then the DVLA and the Met emission people they will re register it as compliant, or is there another reason its non compliant? I am a self employed chippie and
use it for pleasure, and to and from work am I missing something ,HELP.

scroll to the bottom of this page, you'll see all the pages where its been covered before.

Roughtrax also have a condensed version on their info pages.

You shouldn't have any problems, the tax class isn't the problem, its the body style, if its been rego'ed as a Light 4x4 Utility they'll class it as non-compliant, it needs to be changed to an Estate.

If like mine yours has 4x4 utility as the registered vehicle type then that's why it non compliant I just sent my log book back to the DVLA along with some photos asking them to change it to a estate and they after about
6 weeks it came back correct after a further 2 weeks it then shows up as compliant on the lez website.
There is further information on this and other sites if you do a search.

I believe DVLA should now play ball and change your registration document appropriately but even if they don't play ball Transport for London (TfL) will. If you do the necessary you will definitely NOT be subject to LEZ charges.

If you use the search function all the info you need is already on other threads.
