Performance won't be any different if the I/C isn't touching the scoop.

Doesn't the landcruiser have the same intercooler, but with no scoop at all?

It will make a difference, mate races an R1 and he had a gap of about 1/2 inch between a duct and an intake. Thinking was that at 170mph, it wouldn't matter and the air would go in.

        No.

Once he had fabbed something to bridge the gap, he could feel the difference.

I tell you that to tell you this:

I think there is a BIG difference between an R1 doing 170mph at 5 figure rpms and a 4x4 diesel doing 70 at 2500rpm.

There is an airtemp sensor in the intake after the intercooler, if the air isn't as cool as the ECU expects it'll flash a check light at you.

i havent had the chance to do anythin with my surf lately...but wat i was gona do is make a box out of some form of plastic or ali to jus bridge the gap between the bonnet and intercooler it'd be simply to make out of either material.

but sayin that i doubt it'd make any noticable difference really as its not a car makin bigger power thats drivin hard.

I was in Theale the other day getting my wheels re-balanced, so you could well have done.

They all look really good with a lift. I especially like the trucks with the body coloured bumpers and wheel arch extensions.
Rikm777 your winch bumper is great is it a 3rd Gen specific one?

Seeing as he's been tardy posting his own pictures, this is Shaft120s truck after I'd been playing with it...

2" 4x4Toys body lift, 2" Rancho suspension lift, 305/70R16 M/T's and some major bulkhead 'adjustments' to limit rubbing on full lock.

I've trimmed the inside edge and got away with keeping them on. They still rub a little whenever the suspension is compressed at all - but it's not so bad.
