Neighbour knocked the door and asked if I could help move a xmas tree...
.... with the truck.
20 foot tall.
It had been felled in a field at the bottom of a 1:3 slope.
Icy grass and gravel under tyre, front diff with some "CLANK" teeth missing "CLANK" but hey ho, in for a penny and all that.
Dragged it up the slope pretty easily considering, and only sprayed all the "too close to the back of the truck" spectators once with icy gravel....
Got it onto the road, then we stopped the traffic and dragged / paraded it down the high street for 100 yard to its central location.
We then spent 4 hours with the aid of a tractor, tow straps, brute strength and a little bit of surf POWER getting it up right. Getting it to stay upright was another matter, but it's there and lit, and doing its job as the biggest tree our village has ever had...
And the truck never missed a beat, even with its clanky diff - LR owners had shyed away from the challenge I might add.
Going to a carol service later, to listen to (read drink mulled wine here) some christmassy songs and then its mince pies, more mullered wine and live entertainment in the pub.
I'll let you all know how I get on
