  • Resistors for Temp Gauge mod

    Hi all,

I'm going to do the temp gauge mod on the factory fitted gauge. (Changing the resistors.)

The "How to" says to use a 120 ohm 5W and a 56 ohm 5W resistor. But most places I have looked the closest is 4W or 7W. Can I sue either of these, or will it effect the reading?

My electronics knowledge is poor...but would I be right in saying that the power rating of 5W means it can handle up to 5W? So if I was to put a 7w in it would have the same resistance, but could just handle a higher power? And so....it would work fine? (Grasping at straws there....)

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

    7 watt will be fine
