Andy, sorry to hear about your loss. I've never lost a cat, but two dogs have left their mark on me.

Not met you or Scruffy but i'm truly sorry for your loss.
Only a cat/dog animal lover would understand right now.
My dog is 13 year old, not moving so well and takes her ages to get up and out in the morning, but, she's been the only constant in my life for the last 13
years.
I've known her longer than i've known my missus and my three kids.
Got tears in my eyes thinking about it now.
I'll raise a toast to you and Scruffy tonight. If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

Sorry about your cat, good idea to share though, ours was 24 in our years went out one night and never came back.
Going to the vet with any pet for the end, is hard.
I've experienced a loss this last week and yesterday. So right there with yah, have a drink and a cry. And then carry on.
calBala Mud, best underseal there is, only £30 per application.

Thanks for your thoughts and wishes guys, it's much appreciated. It is, by far, the hardest thing I've ever done. Even knowing it was the right thing to do, didn't make actually doing it any easier. Every now and then, I think I see her and the house is eerily quiet without her, even the other cats are subdued.

RIP Scruffy
We had a cat from a rescue sanctuary. Just a lady with a lot of rescue cats in her house, spending a LOT of money keeing them. We "donated" some money to buy George a life and freedom from his cage. He was a lovely cat, however the busy road outside our house got the better of him in the end.
I wasn't emotional when I "found him", but afterwards, I admit to shedding a tear for his passing, in some sense like we were to blame...
So, we moved on and moved house,
We didn't want the same thing to happen to out new cat/s so we got 2 ragdolls, they are the equivalent of a dog in a cats body and are so named as they "flop" when you pick them up. They don't bite or scratch, and are VERY patient with our little kids.
We let them out now, but they don't venture far... we are in a quiet cul-de-sac now, so don't get the traffic.
Sorry for your loss mate - I don't know how we'll be when ours go...]"B.A." Baracus: "Talk to me, talk sense so I can talk back. Not all this jibberjabber like breaking the peace and all that."
