If you are not happy with your employer(my tax dollars) pension contributions, add more yourself. I do this. I cannot expect my employer to add more...they won't.

If you can't afford it, get another job, work longer, do weekends. This is how the private sector works.
    Non intercooled nothing.

Why should he? He has pay and conditions including pay and pension provision.

Why don't we just take two grand a year from your pay to top up public service pensions?

Tell me about it! Just as well I like what I do!

Ahhh, nail the folk who earn big wages. The politics of envy rears it's ugly head - as it always does when the bigger unions open their mouths. Thank god we've got no more car industry to wreck...

See above, why would you not fight to maintain a contract obligation?

Would you take working for no pay, it wasn't that long ago that you took action against an ass hole employer

Hmmmm good idea less public servants. Which 3pc do you want to loose?
Binmen, Nurses, Teachers, Social Workers, Cleaners...

I wish I hadnt started this thread! Do you think if we lose Public Service Pensions you in the Private Sector will be any better off? Any money saved will just disappear into the Treasury.

My pension was raped and my minimum retirement age increased by 10 years about 4 years ago. In order to keep my retirement plan intact, I have to pay more into my pension pot.

What makes you special, why should we have to pay in but you shouldn't?

Thats about the same number as Mitsubishi Shoguns made, so it is entirely possible. Unless you are saying it doesn't matter what the facts are, sheer numbers makes you 'right'..
                  it's in me shed, mate.

Agreed pay and conditions, worth fighting for. We also take lower pay as the pension is taken into account.

I had half the civil service rise for 7yrears in the early 90s to keep the pension.

We increased hours in the late 80s to keep pension.

Now they are back. Time to say no.

I do pay in, as does every other PS worker.

That's easy, binmen (if that doesn't make the 3%, get rid of some Social Workers). Binmen are the biggest waste of money ever. I have to take more and more stuff to the tip myself; so I don't see the need to have a lorry, full of workshy public servants, drive around the streets once a fortnight.

Lets see, how about social workers first?

Tell you what, there's lots of private refuse firms out there. Bet they'll pick up some new business...

Teachers... I know a few lazy, overpaid moaning ones - they can go (I know some dedicated ones too - we can keep them)

Cleaners? We can stick the lazy feckin dole scroungers into those jobs - there's plenty of private cleaning firms much leaner and meaner, I'm sure they'd love the new business.

                          Any more?

If your pension fund is dwindling, pay more in to the pot.
