Don`t buy off ebay, loads of fakes on there.

I use 8 gig max. If the card corrupts, and they can do, then you will lose everything on the card. A 32 or 64 gig could lose you a lot of photos.

Download the contents of the card everytime you use it, good habit to get into.

I have Sandisk, Kingston and just got some of the new Duracell compact flash cards, no issues with any. The Duracell and Sandisk write faster.

    Couple of links for you:

Edit to add.............I don`t do video on my DSLRs, if you do then I can understand the need for bigger cards. Stick to Sandisk or Duracell either way,IMHO.

I dont know that camera..but I guess it shoots video, class 6 or above (if you want to shoot video) from a reputable supplier the market is awash with clones.

Hi. Andy. My personal preference is to use good Quality 2, or 4 gb cards. It's not as if they're bulky, or that expensive. The main thing is, though, if one becomes faulty,or damaged, then, the amount of data that you have lost is not as great. How are you getting on with the EOS ? I've been looking at the Nikon D90, lately. What do you think of them? Any comments?......Cheers....Mick. ...

Thanks for the advice, chaps. I was thinking about the 64GB because it means only carrying one or two cards, but I suppose the consequences of a corrupt 64GB card are quite serious!

I'll go for multiple 8GB Class 10 cards with a 16GB for video (if I ever use it!).

            I love my Canons. I've had lots of them over the years, AE1, A1, F1, T70, T90, EOS350E and now the 500D.

The only thing I don't like with the DSLRs is that they are so small, it's not like holding a proper camera. My F1 was an awesome piece of kit, it oozed quality and felt 'proper', next best was the T90. These digital things need bulked up a bit, IMHO.

The Canon/Nikon argument will never be won or lost, I think Nikon have the technical edge just now, but that will swing back to Canon soon. I believe Canon have more accessories than Nikon.

But to answer your question, I love the Canon, wouldn't change it for a Nikon if the Nikon were free... My retirement gift to me will be the best Canon DSLR available on that day, been planning that since the £12k D1 days...

Cheers Andy. That's one of the things that attracted me to the D90. It's got a good solid chunky "quality" feel to it.

If I buy the Nikon, I'm hoping that it's going to be all the camera that I'll ever need. You sound like you're a bit more serious about your cameras than me, with that retirement plan.....................

Nah, it's only about £5k now for a camera that's 10 times better

You could always add a battery grip to your Canon to bulk it up a bit.
I have one on a 7d and it just feels and looks bizarre without it

Personally I'd go for the Cl10 card as well but I'd go for multiple 32GBs as they're likely to work out cheaper.

If you're set on the 64GB it's available a lot cheaper than the previous link:

Hi sorry for the late reply. I seem to have caught a cold, glands are swollen and my Jacobs feel like they've been kicked repeatedly.

The camera which I was having issues was the action camera named GoPro HD. It turns out that there was a whole lot of people having the same issue. Cards that experienced this were, Transcend as well as the fake / Ebay Kingston cards.

Also, we knew the bit rate of the sensor and derived that a Class 4 would be suitable, however to allow for bursts I have chosen Class 6. We can record at 60FPS @ 720P which is a decent bit rate. The Transcend card at one point gave up on me whilst I was scuba diving - great. Chosing a card you should take the above into account. Usually the manufacturers would recommend a card / class to avoid any issues.
