  • Roof mounted lamp for lamping

Has anyone fitted a lamping kit ? Wondering if there were any issues with single or double skin roofs, or water ingress issues due to the curve of the roof.
Looking at the Lightforce RC 150/225 type kits:

as I already have Lightforce 240 spots that don't get used.

i used to have 2 lamps fitted to the wing mirrors (clip on brackets)

lets you stick a hand out the window to turn the lamp when bugs bunny tries to run away

That Ebay thing looks useful, but need the ability to fully pan the light constantly whilst driving around, hence why I'm looking at fitting the roof mounted light with the T handle inside the cab. Also, even on Summer nights, your hand gets b****y cold after holding a handheld lamp out the window for hours.

When I go shooting, one person drives while holding lamp & passenger shoots.
Obviously won't work if your on your own but I think the roof lamps are a bit of a faff.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Smiffy, that's a similar thing to the one I use when on my own, not bad really, but borrowed.
Si, aye, but I'm often out on my own in the mornings when I'm at home, since I work away rotation I can go out mornings when no one else can be arsed.
These Lightforce 240's are awesome, but I'm finding I almost never use them whilst driving, so wanted to put them (or just one) to good use.

Ah I see, don't think I'd like to be drilling holes in my roof though.

Yeah, I'm unsure as well. Might go for the uber-expensive suction mounted bar and handle thingummy, which would mean easily transferrable to other vehicles. Or might fabricate something to mount on roof bars, but will still have to fork out for the handle. It all still means cold hands though....

If you have a sunroof you could open it, clamp the lamp "somehow" & use it that way. Only problem is that you have the sunroof open slightly.

Just an idea, tell me to shut up if I'm talking shite.

Did anyone ever tell you you're a nasty man???

Welcome to the internet, where other like-minded individuals will greet you with open arms!!!

OP; the last ebay link I posted was for a remote control magnetic based lamp, so no handles or drilling!!! Just run a power cable out to it. You could also be 20 feet away from the car and still operate the light!
