TBH if you are looking at gennies perhaps you should be looking at solar , wind and water generation and big batteries.

I was looking at it for the caravan, and for running a cement mixer.
(and a get outoftheshit) when the Russians turn the power off.

I really want to do the whole self-sufficient thing with power,
I've planted a load of Beech trees, hopefully I rotate the chopping/planting to give me a steady supply of wood.

Wind power - We don't get much wind.

Solar - It's the high initial cost that scares me, the government here don't give any incentives, and one good ice storm and all me panels will get broken.

Someone will come up with something earth shatteringly new soon.

Pity about the wind as the return is better , about five years .......

There is lots out there it's just finding it.

And there is always steam generation from your own wood/charcoal.
