How much of a "strip down" was required?

I'm considering re-gearing to 5.29 from 4.88 by replacing ring & pinion (similar to something along these lines) and (maybe) while I'm at it possibly fitting auto lockers (like this).

I was just curious how "deep" into the gubbins your 3½ hours of fiddling got you...

Come to think of it, if TonyN notices this - how long do you reckon it would take to fit and how much would it cost in terms of labour for you to do it if I sourced all the parts?

didnt take that mutch to strip down with wheels off bout no moor than 10 nuts n bolts.
not been that far into it yet but i racon i can do the the both sides of the rear axel oil seals n bearings in bout 4hr or less now i know what im doin n what bits i need 2 strip n re-build.
i got the seal n bearing kit from roughtrax for bout £40 per side
would'nt cost mutch to do them.

Did you have to press the new seals in using any kind of special tools or can a Sunday mechanic (me) do the job on the driveway?

        Thanks for the post.
        Oh Nana, what's my name?

Putting seals in is pretty easy on the diff housing side, tap in with a block of wood the seals are quite delicate really you could bend them out of shape with one hand. Bit like a jam jar lid.
