Drives me fuc<ing nuts these vegetarians who do it for moral reasons then eat dairy products entirely ignoring the fact that since we stopped producing veal (the recent spate of small producers notwithstanding) in this country that all the bull calves born on dairy farms get killed and wasted.
I've tried to convince many that if they are veggie for moral reasons they need to either go the whole hog or (and I would love someone to do this!) be a vegetarian but eat veal.
On the continent its not produced in the nicest of ways but arguably a crappy life in a pen is preferable to a life ended immediately after birth.
your ...having a joke ? confused Veal/milk...
farm shop getting hard time i understand
Veal = bull calves from dairy cows (i.e. useless as they don't give much beef and obviously can't produce milk) that are kept indoors (dark pens on the continent, open ended barns over here if memory serves) and fed a diet of milk only giving the meat a light colour and delicate flavour.
There isn't a problem with any meat whichever way it's fed or age of the animal when it's due for slaughter, some people need to wind their necks in mate! I will eat most meats regardless of what anyone else thinks, I did work on a farm that raised animals for slaughter and it was probably some of the best meat that was available, I did sometimes get attached to some of the stock as i looked after them from birth until slaughter so i would console myself by knowing while i was looking after them they were treated properly and were content, Yes slaughter time was hard as we would sometimes slaughter on site with the odd bullock or lambs but i knew how they had been fed and what they were fed on, and it was god damn tasty
I'M ALWAYS IN THE SH'T, IT'S ONLY THE DEPTH THAT VARIES!!!!!!!!
how would you like your steak cooked? Rip its horns off and wipe its ars e please
I actually said (after a fair few beers I admit) in a steakhouse in Flagstaff "give it a slap and wipe its arse". After the blank look, I said "blue please". After a further blank look (they don't use the term 'blue') I said "very rare please"
I got a steak which ####ed blood all over my fries. It was stunning!
Never sent anything back. It's only gonna come back worse. I generally just asked for the minimum amount of interference I could get away with. Sort of kill it and stick it on something that wont spill blood on my shirt.
I did once see the chef from a Brazilian restaurant that specialised in unusual meats I'd just eaten at in the Bronx (wow, am I name dropping tonight!) smacking a squirrel with a brush in the carpark when I was leaving.
I did add to the 'odd animals I've eaten' total substantially that night though.
