Well I've landed in Jo'burg and am now in a coffee shop using my laptop via their wireless network. Only problem is I have to drive a Mazda 323 until the 23rd of September as that is when my truck arrives in Durban. Haven't seen any Surfs yet but plenty of Hilux bakkies, twin-cabs and pick-ups

Drove around Hillbrow the other night, got lost, but we didn't get gunned down, car jacked, or mugged so things are looking good! Road rage here is a bit different - people don't just give you the finger - if you really !!!! people off - they shoot you (3 dead from a rr incident in this morning's Star newspaper!)

Anyway, will drop you a line again when the truck arrives as I have to drive it up to Zimbabwe to get it cleared by customs. I think they'll be a lot of bribery and corruption to report on next time. Ciao, enzo.

Glad to hear you got there safely. Hope the truck makes it just as safely. I hope that things work out well for you there.

Ek kan nee Afrikaans praat nee! But I'll do my best though, bya dankie! (Sorry about the spelling!)

Yes, some problems were solved - some postponed, and yes it will be a b@stard of a wait for my truck! Definately taking it up to Zim and when it's cleared, then back into SA and Namibia for Christmas! Just realised that, to clear customs, I need a manifest for all the kit / tools stored in my vehicle - and I ain't got one - I just chucked everything I thought I would need into a couple of metal trunks! More bribery and corruption will be required.

Andy - I'm shipping the rear wheel carrier as well and so I'll bolt it on as soon as it arrives.

Thanks guys for all your best wishes and feel free to look me up if you take a wrong turn off the M6 and end up in the wrong part of town!

Good news that you are shipping the wheel carrier, and I'm sure you will find some locals to help who are a dab hand with a welder and an Adjuster Number 1 (hammer).

Good luck with it and remember Bribery is just another way of doing business - I learnt that one in Abu Dhabi.

                    Cheers M8

You know the best thing about this internet cafe? They serve cold beer ANY time of day!!!

Being a tw@t I packed my digital camera with our household items and so I'm waiting for the shipper to get in touch re: a delivery date. Took a spin into downtown Jo'burg today - wicked! If you think that driving a dodgem at the fair is fun try downtown jo'burg! Traffic laws etc are more like loosely kept guidelines! Still haven't personally experienced any gun violence yet (only been here 5 days!) but I'm looking out for a cheap 9mm or those times when only force will protect my family. Battery is low so, ciao!

A Bit like Cairo then, sounds lots of fun, better replace those wheelarches you took off with sections of 6mm box section so you can bounce off the locals.

Hope you left the chicken wire in the back to protect all your stuff.

I bet you'll be glad when the runner turns up, I for one would be feeling a bit vulnerable in a small Mazdz, even if they do go ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.

                              Cheers
