Had my steering recall confirmation letter today.
It says my local Toyota dealership now has the paperwork to go ahead with the work and will contact me to arrange booking it in with them . It even gave me the name and direct number of the service manager to ring if I havnt heard anything within the next 21 days

got mine yesterday too, but i rung the service manager straight away (dingles, in norwich), telling her im "home" for a week before i go again, i send her by email a copy of it (confirmation letter)
that speed up the process, they know you are genuine, not trying to get free parts.

              Right.
              [blows off some steam]

Had a 2 letters from Toyota, re the recall, naming a nominated centre for the work to be done.

The centre then wrote to me, asking me to make contact to arrange a time to have the work done, personally written comps slip from, let's say her name is "Moron"

Well, I've just called Moron, she doesn't have a record of the vehicle and NO recall notices. Vehicle is not on any of her Toyota databases.

I told her SHE had written the blummin' note!

To which she replied, well, there's no record of it here...

              AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!

AND ITS ME THAT'S GONNA HAVE TO HAVE TIME OFF WORK FOR TOYOTA TO SORT THE DAMN THING OUT. (I'm s/emp so I don't get hols paid btw)

Someone's gonna call me back when they can be Ar$ed...

              ...apparently.

              God, I feel better now.
              Thanks for listening.

                  You are so ignorant.

PS. I have been wanting to ask this for ages, but didn't want to seem even more ignorant than usual.
PPS. Oh, and before you all start - searching for "steering recall" gives a whole bunch of references discussing the recall, all of which tell anyone who asks what it is about to search for it.

Nice one. I should have guessed that the information about the steering recall wouldn't be in one of the threads titled "steering recall"...

Now that would be too simple wouldn't it... best to disguise info, then you have to rely on the oldies to remember where it went, then belittle the newbies for asking silly questions, when they can't find the answers...
