  • Aaahh!! Help!!

I'm in panic, this morning the front started to make noise, above the sound of the stereo, stopped, checked, and went to a mechanic to lift it and see it properly, he said i shouldn't to be worried about it, i am because i think is the diff. gone (front) the piece i am pointing at (with not the offensive finger ) move too much 6mm of play. plus the constant noise while im driving and the vibration i feel under my side (driver) changed a few month ago the wheel bearings, so that is discarded.
i don't want to be driving my surf all the way to Norwich from Kerry (Ireland) with an ifi front. any idea? please?

You are not a Jedi yet...

Which bit has the play - and which way? The CV is inside that cup you're pointing at. It will move around inside there quite a lot - that's what it does.

I think I understand. It is the inner CV you are pointing at. Play where the shaft goes into front diff is normal and not to be worried about, unless oil starts leaking from the diff.

Shouldn't that be " Jedi not yet you are"?

yeap is that bit im pointing at the one moves around (CV?) it moves what i think is a lot about 6mm of play, and not sure this noise is from that of the diff or something else on the drivers side.
sorry if you guys didnt understand(Spanish stresed here (not from bacelona))

I wiggled Animal's shaft, as that would move up and down maybe 5mm. I waggled my own, and it moved the same amount.
                        Drivers's side this is.
The passenger side has very little movement in it.

Adding in your description, I deduce all our loose bits are fine, look elsewhere.

sorry i couldn't resist that one (dirty mind here, being too long with my brother in law) doe you made me a nice start of the day.thank you.
im going for a hunt of a second hand diff, (it doesn't look too difficult to change)
if it doesn't make any difference i go for the bronze bushes like bigbobe said.

What sort of front diff? You'll need your axle code/gear ratio.
