  • free wheeling hubs

I'm after some reviews of anyone with free wheeling front hubs.
    Are they worth getting?
Did you notice much difference in fuel useage
Does the truck drive better with them
    Etc cheers

I fitted em just over a year ago and find them ok, my main reason was easing the wear on the cv's after a sus lift but i have found the truck slightly easier on steering etc, i can push the truck back and forth etc in the garage much earier as well (i used to have to start it and move it back/forward so there must be a slight saveing on derv if it runns "free'er"
easy to fit, easy to switch to 4x4, well worth the dosh i think

The feel of the steering definitely changed - felt fractionally "lighter" into turns. I also felt a slight change in rolling resistance - ie engine braking coming up to junctions and it was fractionally quicker launching off.

None of the effect were hugely noticable but the obvious immeasurable effect will be increased CV joint life.

I didn't notice any difference in mpg with them.

Worth it? Probably given the lifts we've both got on our Surfs. Definitely worth £40. New gaskets are a couple of quid from Roughtrax.

Hey, Steve. I've got some Warn hubs fitted. Bought second hand ( Cheers Bob ). I got them to reduce wear and tear on CV's, so job done. I havent really noticed a great difference in either steering, or mpg, but maybe I'm just the insensitive type..............Cheers.....Mick.
