That might actually ADD heat back into the tranny fluid, and you still run the risk of the rad/tranny cooler cross contamination due to corrosion, and taking your entire tranny out in the process. Bypassing seems like the way to go in my mind.Originally posted by Rustinho View PostKeeping the in-rad tranny cooler in the loop after the external tranny cooler should avoid any problems with over-cooling and also gives the ATF an extra chance to cool should it need it...'96 Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G - RIP

I like the idea but I do rock crawling as well as alot of water and some mud so that placement would not work. They'd be gone the first 5min of my first trip, great for the hiway and towing tho! I'm gonna see what I can figure out, I'll let ya guys know how it goesOriginally posted by gary-r View Postsomething like this will cure your problem and you can fit an inline stat for the winter. 16 row coolers with atv fans.
the radiator only cools the water system and the 2 coolers do atf and engine oil.
its a 1uzfe and never gets hot even in over 30degree heat.

my bash plate is 4mm thick steel plate with reinforcing ribs internally. i can jack the truck on it. its level with the front crossmember but you could gain extra height by sitting the coolers at a steeper angle.
with the coolers being fan cooled you can mount them anywhere - the fans are mainly used when going slow with no air-flow anyway. anywhere under the body will work with a simple air duct to direct air flow in normal driving.
be good to see someone else's solution to a common problem
