  • Well I never!

I never knew that British driving licences only lasted 10 years!
I always thought they were 'till you was seventy.
Mine run out last year, I've been hiring cars and showing it to the po-lice
    and nobody noticed.
    It's Camerons fault, fascist!

It's the photo that needs changing every 10 years, it lasts till your 70 "I think".
If its not broke don't fix it.

            That's why I've no intention of moving house until I'm 70 !

think if you get stoppped with a paper one you can get done for invlaid license? but i could be wrong! the 1st time you get one its free

then if you move its free, so you can 'move' to you parents for a bit then 'move' back and its free and you get points taken off the paper couterpart and everything!

Old paper licences are valid until the date they say that they expire (usually 70th birthday). If you move house you obviously end up with a new photo licence assuming you tell the DVLA you've moved.

I did the same thing regarding points when I updated my licence after I passed my car test and I was lucky enough to get them removed. I suspect it's pure chance whether they get removed or not though...

Moving to my parents might be problematical - Dad died in 1974, Mum in 1979 and I'm not sure whether they went up or down !

Fortunately I've managed to avoid collecting any points so that's not an issue
