by the looks of it the crown wheel can ber seperated by undoing the ten bolts holding it onto the diff. so that begs the question now will my crown wheen fit ontoo thiss othe diff from th pick up, even if it is 8" and 30 spline.Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

Right just to let you guys know. i'm now the proud owner of a brand new lsd that has maybe only turned 50 miles before the truck had a accident. I took my diff up to gwyn lewis to strip the lsd unit out of the new axle but came across a problem. the bearing were a different size. we the counted the ring gear and it had 2 more teeth on it than my old unit so we were thinking about changing the ring and pinion into my old diff casing with the new unit until gwyn noticed that the casings although different to look at slightly were the same length and height. woth all the bolt holes in the right place.
So, I brought the hilux diff unit and rebuilt my axle with it albeit with the new ratio in the back axle so for a short while 4wd is a no no. he does however have the brand new diff unit in the shed belonging to the samevehicle. now i have had a brief look at it and all the mounts seem to be in the same place as mine, the ratio will be the same as my rear axle which is also good. and the cups that hold the half shafts that go to the hub are solid and not moving like the ones on my truck at the moment. i think someone on here mentioned the bronze bushes?? The only thing that is different on the diff is there is no add, but my 4wd dislocates at the transfer box anyway so no big problem there really. also has free wheeling hubs. not bad for 100quid.
i also still have all my old bit as well as the new rear half shafts, diff, hubs, front, diff, wishbones and drive shafts.Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!
