You have to look carefully, but attached to the upper lining inside the boot is two rear work lights quite simply riveted to the linner. They stayed that way for years until I got a rear spoiler, then this happened.
They are wired via a two pole switch, so they can be off, on independant of ignition switch, or on with reverse (but thats only when on private land).Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

my god thats a "full up" boot, you put some work into that, surely thta big dog dosn't fit in that little cage?Too young to die and too old to give a toss

These look great and exactly what I'm hoping to fit when i get back to provide some work light. If you don't mind where are the lights from, how did you fix them to the spoiler and where did you run the wire. Please bear in mind I'm not the most technically/electrically minded but this setup look ideal.

I bought a 5 lamp light light bar from a Discovery. I simply bolted it to the roof with some L shaped brackets from a hardware shop and drilled a hole in the roof for the wires. I used some corrugated cable tidy along the bottom of the bar for a better finish. I have a sunroof wind deflector to cover the holes when I sell it.
As for the rear I have two square spot lamps simply bolted straight to the roof. I pulled the rear washer jet off and fed the wires through there to save another hole. They are great for reversing on unlit roads at night or even better when green laning. Or when you have some gypsy c**t in a transit sat 5mm off your bumper.

Thanks for that useful, where did you run the wires to once they were internal?. Here's one which will probably show my ignorance but is there anyway of wiring a spot (I'm looking at a 15w pencil led type from eBay) up to the back internal light so that when you drop the tailgate it comes on or will the wiring not support the demand? I was thinking of aralditing it to the spoiler under the brake light and then wiring it to the rear internal light, would that work?
I would like to run a seperate circuit so I could switch it on off while driving but I'm nervous about drilling holes and running it forward from my point of ignorance, power, earth from where? So tapping in to to the rear internal boot light would be the simplest if it would work?

Have a look. I only have one Picture of the light bar. There is no reason I chose the Disco bar as such; it was an ebay auction too cheap to refuse.

Ok, light acquired thanks to Christmas! When I get back I am going to look at mounting it.
Tapping in to the load area light sounds like the simplest and should get it working ASAP?
I have also ordered a switch and relay and will look at getting a circuit run from the dashboard. So here's the question for those that know what they are talking about:
If I mount the switch next to to the fog light switch (by the ignition) do I then just run a pos and neg from the switch to the battery (where can I go though the bulkhead?) and then back from switch under the trim/carpet to the light on the spoiler? Where is the earth needed, switch or light? And where and why do I stick in a relay?
I know this will be very simple for some but I've looked for a few simple wiring diagrams and there are still a few question marks?!
POPEYE- if you could bear to explain how you wired yours that sounds just what I'm after?

I can never remember how to wire relays but a quick search on google will bring up any diagrams, but for the main wiring you don't need to run a earth for the switch. Just go from the + on the battery or a spare fuse in the fuse box to the switch, then switch to your w/light. Then just connect the earth from the lights to the nearest earthing point in your boot (should be one reasonably close to the back light units.
