  • what would you do

    Someone really wants my surf.
He wants it enough to offer me £2500 for it.
I know that's a really good price for a 2.4 but don't know what to do as It isn't up for sale.

I would remember what Zammo taught me many years ago.

If he wants a surf like yours he can go and buy a 2.4 and fit how own bars, cage, wheels and so forth.
No doubt it'll cost a lot more than £2.5k to do it.

You've got a 2.4 haven't you? Sell it, get a 3.0 for about 1k and start again! If someone for mine offered me 2.5k for mine I would!

Hey Steve. Sounds like a golden opportunity to upgrade to that 3.0 that I'll bet you've always been promising yourself, and still have plenty change left to spend on mods and "goodies".....Cheers....Mi ck.

Yes mines a 2.4 and I'm considering what to do. A 3.0 would be nice, so would a double cab pickup.

Come on, it's a no brainer mate. Do you think you'll ever get offered that amount of money for it ever again?

You know what to do .................. sell, sell, sell!

I have to say if someone offered me £2.5k for mine I'd jump at it!

It's a better offer than the Scooby swap he offered you before (assuming it's the same fella).

Just look at the bloke from London (ish?) who is planning to overland a 3.0 Surf he just picked up for £750! (recent post - I'll have a hunt for it in a min and reference it!)

The only thing is that you'd have to be lucky enough to drop in on the right deals for wheels, etc, again to cover your costs and still end up with something better...

Sell and get a 3.0L to replace it. You may be able to transfer some of your bits over to the new one as well, if you can negotiate them out of the deal.

                  Sell it.
Find a 2.4 in good nick but with a blown head for £400.
                  Buy an LS400 for £400...

By the way, I reckon you'd be able to get more from him if you have a canny bargaining head on. See if he'll offer any more for it, if he does than ask a bit more than he's offering and then maybe meet somewhere inbetween...

I wouldn't like to put figures in his mouth - you'll have to speak to him. But if you could get £2500 for yours, and a new surf and LS400 for under a thousand, then you wouldn't have that much to save up on top...
