  • New boots and body lift done!!!

Today was a busy day- up and out the door at 8.30 - got cracking on the body lift.. following a couple of threads off here made it really easy!!!

by 11 that was all done - went really smoothly - only issue was the need for the angry grinder which is currently on loan to someone else, so a bit of begging round the estate got me sorted..

Then spent 4 hours sat around waiting for the delivery man to arrive..

anyway - he arrived about 4pm so i quickly got too it...

    Set of 16x10 modulars wrapped in 305/70/16 AT2 grabbers.. (32.8 x 13 x 16 if talking old money)

    here is the comparison shots...

not much difference is there side by side shot...

anyway - on they went and I popped out covered in dirt from the drive in my 'sexy clothes' as i couldnt wait..

Drives really nice - steering is a bit heavier, but I'm guessing thats from the lift etc - yes i did slacken on off the steering bolt and re-tighten..

Measurements show an increase this time of 9cm (taken from floor to arch top centre)

this one shows that i need to get the front camber sorted, its definitely leaning in, which might be what its supposed to do, but looks wrong to me..

Wendy standing in front - bear in mind she is 5'10"

    and I'm 6'4"

We then went up to the ford - normally I nail it through here as its shallow, but decided as the light was good to get some still pics...

then popped up a little lane...

(I'm a little teapot -certainly not short, but defo stout )

    and Wendy

    as always comments welcome

                main one was this one..

                http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthrea...+lift+complete

but generally reading up and using the search,

but it is pretty self explanatory tho undo bolt, jack up, insert block, fit new bolt.. lol

Tonyn being local is always a blessing, but other than purchasing the rad drop and bumper brackets from him, i managed this one myself..

Well, great job, it looks the biz. Wish I was up for that sort of thing, but these days just driving around ( and a bit of wheel cleaning) is enuff to knacker me.

Is it just me, or could it do with being just a smidge lower at the front?
                    ( No, I don't mean Wendy's top .... although...)

Good job. and not a phone call.

Woud'nt worry about the steering to much, as long as the column isn't rubbing on the bulkhead where it goes through.

It's more likely to be just that the new tyres and wheels are wider and heavier than what you took off, and especially if you try and turn the steering while foot is on brakes.

tell em about it, nice hot bath in a bit

being 6'4 doesnt help either - bend over a little for a while and i;m in agony for a day or 2..

yeah, i'm putting steering down to tyres.. i loosened the steering arm and it extended a little, so all seems ok.. tracking feels even more out and camber defo looks off

That looks class! Well done Lawsy. Love the big fat tyres.

Is your Surf matt black or is it just the pics give that impression? Mean & sinister - lovely.

One of my fave Surfs - well done.
