  • Fog Lamp - Flush fit to bumper - Bodgetastic!

The rear fog lamp got bashed and fell off (again) last weekend so I decided to relocate it and put it in the bumper to save it getting bashed and broken again.

Did myself a little template from a bit of cereal box carboard, drilled a hole for each corner and then cut the hole out of the bumper using an angle grinder.

I didn't quite allow for the curve of the bumper so it looks slightly skewiff but is functional enough, which is what counts as far as I'm concerned given that I've done it myself. I'd be disappointed if I'd paid a garage to do it for me but I'd rather save the money and have cosmetics that are slightly rough around the edges!

    Pictures? Why ever not...

It looks ok from a distance anyway.

Stuck my fog on the rear tyre hanger....... you can just see it hanging to the left of the tyre......

Nice towbar...... now where have i seen one like that...... oh yeah on my truck......

I threaded 2 M8 bolts into the sides of the plate to stop the hanger with the towball on shifting side to side.... ground the heads of the M8 bolts to get nice fit.......

Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......

It was from a fleabay seller down in the south west (Devon/Cornwall area I think). They pop up for sale on there once in a while, like the "factory" roof racks. It was useful last year when I was stuck in the lake at Sibbertoft (Avalanche site)...

How does it work? Does it attach to the spare wheel carrier somehow?

It's easy, you put one foot on the horizontal bit of metal, one hand on another one, (idealy a bit higher up), and sort of climb up it......

                It does indeed.

Just popped outside and took some pics for you.

Should be pretty straightforward to rig something up for a modular ladder...

Why would you want a ladder ?????

The tailgate is lower than the bottom rung......

Or are you one of seven ?????

Makes it easier for reaching the roof for a start, especially for the roof rack when I finally get around to sorting the right bolts to fit it on. I've tried a few different places but haven't had any joy yet.

The bolts have a square head so that they fit into a channel on the underside of the roof rack (a bit like the bolts that you use for a greenhouse). Anyone any ideas?

The ladder is also useful on the rare occasions I actually bother to wash the truck too.

A standard bolt is already too small to not turn in the channel so grinding it won't help...

Ooooo.... Ooooooo.... I must have one of those ladders. It's a need not a want. Yeah yeah they look uber cool and all that jazz, but since the roof tent went on it would be well handy plus I could hang other stuff off it.

Hmmmm maybe an other type could even be modded to fit... Getting excited over a ladder.. I really must get out more.
                            .... Which was nice.

You are very kind sir - thank you. I really like it - I like the look, and it would make loading up a roofrack a sight easier IMHO.
                              Good work.
I see you had the same problem I have with the wheel warning light being on!
