got a cheapie 40 band Midland in mine.

Once I installed it and tried it I couldn't beleive the amount of obsenity & general rubbish on the airwaves

only really use it when off roadin' as a couple of the pay & play sites we use can't get a mobile phone signal

only paid £40.00 for the whole lot (unit, mounting cage, antenna & cable) from fleabay - just changed the whip for a thunderpole (looks better)

You cant use the handheld ones from inside the motor without them being connected to an external antenna

I have a nice sideband rig in mine. Shame is noone is using the damn things any more. I remeber when it used to be hard to find a clear channel now they're all clear

Oh yes, you have to know a 'firestick' when you see one.

I have a CB and a 2-way wired in, with permanent aeriel fixings on the roof. I got a spare glovebox, so the 2 radios are attached to the spare box so that they can be taken in and out easily.

The PA function on the CB is excellent, and the 2-way is used for rallys and other similar events.

Firestick, sidewinder, Antron99, silver rod, blue rod, thunderpole..great stuff.

CB's are essential if you get out once, twice a month I'd say. Just to be 'networked' into the group is a whole new ball game.

The baby midlands are ideal for the surf as you can fit them where the ashtray lives for a nice & tidy install. If you take your time it almost looks stock.

The other day I was waiting in the truck and turned mine on just to see if I could hear anything...

I was in Henley, and could hear a guy in Maidenhead and a guy in Camberly...

I was pretty impressed with the range!

I do live at the top of a hill though!

what kind of range are we talking then for CB's with antenna's?

I found some walkie-talkie ones on ebay, £70 for a pack of 6 handsets, says they have a 7km range. Anygood?
