I put my old one on freecycle, it went to an elderly couple whos tv had just broken down before christmas. They were delighted with it and even sent me a Christmas card to say thankyou. Best thing I've done with an old tv B-)

I looked out on a cold winters morn and saw two ragamuffins without shoes on their feet.
I called out to them "have you eaten today?"
The replied "no mister Slobo, we haven't eaten for days"
"Our mater is ill and our pater is off fighting the war."
I said "have you got a telly?"
        "No," they replied.
I said "well out of the goodness of my heart, you can have this old Loewe CRT, so you can watcheth and taketh your mind off your problems"
"you can stick that" they said "no-one has that old sh1t anymore"
Sent from the iPad you "lost"

Sorry, I should have added the requisite 'IMHO'.

I don't get on with new-fangled tellies. Not luminous enough for me.

Actually if you had a crt with HD it'd knock spots of any plasma or LCD. In the Telly making industry we still use CRT's for colour matching cameras for many reasons. LCD's do not give true colour representation and there is a picture to sound delay which varies from model to model (a ####### when you are trying to get sound in synch). Likewise Plasma's are even worse. Sure they give a good picture but trust me if we used them to maatch the cameras it's look sh1te!

Would love to see you hang a 50" CRT on my living room wall...

Going blah blah about industry is a little like me saying 'your radio is crap - my Rhode & Schwartz ESU27 that I use at work would knock spots off it'.

CAD engineers at KBR / BP still use massive CRT's in a dual setup. Computer CRTs are sometimes capable of HD resolution. Never watched any HD films on one though.
