  • squeaking / rubbing from n/s wheel...

I've noticed a bit of a noise for sometime now, what sounded like wheel bearings, a bit of a squeak at first but now more of a rubbing. I jacked up the front end this morning, and checked the wheels.
I have no play in either wheel so would rule out bearings, but the passenger wheel, when i rotate it, is where the noise is coming from. Now, i'm not sure if it's coming from the diff side or the wheel side? I know that i STILL need to change my front diff, could it be that? Or can anyone shed any kind of light on this?
Like i said, no play in the wheel at all, the noise is when i rotate it.

Maybe lack of grease in the CV boot? I put loads in when i fitted new ones, but theres grease outside of the boots now where it's come out from spinning round, i dont know if the clips (the crappy pull tight and fold over ones that they come with) are not tight enough or what?

Any ideas? Got to drive it to Grt Yarmouth tomo to pick my mates new Surf up - which is 3 1/2 hrs each way..
