  • cv help needed. very odd

    hi all,
my cv started knocking and front axel/drive shaft bounced up and down 3 times on every singl rotation of the wheel. i hand i replaced the cv unit 500 miles befour as the old one was gubbed.

i have started looking into it again,
so i stripped off the cv rubbers and span the wheel round.
what i found was the inner cv bar was hitting the inner cv bearing cup and so when the wheel span the cv bar wound push against the cup forcing the axel to move down wards.

question, how the hell do i fix it?

    pics to come.

    cheers will

Did you re-fit the snap ring on the shaft?

Is your truck lifted? If it is, how is it lifted?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

I hate having to repeat myself, "how is it lifted?"

If your CV joints are binding (and you have them built up properly) you may have wound the torsion bars up too much. Are the bump stops still there and in good condition?

It's also possible that you have too many tyres. I only have 5; 33 does seem quite a lot.

You must be close to Apache's dwelling. Might be an idea to ask him to stop round and have a look at the problem.

well its been lifted for 3 years now and has always been fine, so i dont see how the torsion bars would suddenly be a problem.

                          33inch tyres
