  • Hello with a possibly familiar LN130 and problems.

    Hi there everyone.

Been a member of this for a bit and thought i'd post.

Bought my truck in December mainly due to the snow up here in Scotland and always wanting a 4x4. I took alot of time to decide on Landy or Toyota and eventually saw this wee beauty come up.

Anyway here's my LN130 the day I got it.

Good clean and Polish after the snow left aswell as painting the towbar.

    Beside the Girlfriends Golf.

    Unbelievably happy with it.

Plans are to get it undersealed. So if any of you know of anyone up in Edinburgh or surrounding areas that will do a good job on it let me know. Willing to pay as I don't have the time to do it myself. Also just going to get it lit up with some roof lights and front spots.

Some of you may recognise it as there seems to be a hiluxsurf.co.uk sticker on the tailgate.

One problem has arisen though. It seems the air con pump pulley has disintegrated all the rubber inbetween it. Now obviously the belt is turning but not the pulley because it's seized and makes a hell of a noise. I was just wondering if anything else is driven off of that belt. or if I can lose it to get it running until I get a new pump?

    Cheers,

Let me know what you think,

    Lew

    Air con problems

Lew,how do,just had a quick gander at mine( N reg 3ltr td) and the belt seems to go around the air con pulley, the adjuster, water pump and crank, but only does the air con in reality,so should be ok to remove,Alan

The AC pulley doesn't turn all the time, it's on a clutch.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

hiya mate yes you can loose the aircon belt its only the aircon pump it runs. if your not bothered bout the aircon you can turn your pump in to a compressor for onboard air if thats the route you wana go. but yeah remove the belt it wont effect anything else.

            Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies. I decided to just look down further into the engine bay with a torch and saw that it was only driving the AC so just took it off. What actually was happening was that the bottom pulleys block was obviously turning off of the engine and the belt seemed to be stuck so it was just burning through the belt. Nice loud noise and loads of smoke. So I just decided on Saturday to get shot of it. The clutch had gone in the AC anyway and was needing recharged. It's Scotland, we don't need Air Con up here.

Went out for a jaunt on Sunday night in the sunshine

Anyone know of any good bodyshops that'll underseal for cheap up here?

            Cheers,

            Lew

Well there's still a hiluxsurf.co.uk vinyl cut sticker on the back. Mainly how I found out you guys existed. Be good if there was anyone who knew a wee bit of it's history etc on here. Not going to lie but it's one of the smoothest diesels I've ever heard and felt. Such a good engine. Just really wanna clean it up again.

It is lifted with some 33 AT's on it. Suspension and Body lift. Couldn't tell you the height of the body lift though. Use it as a daily and find it unbelievably comfy. Fuel is better than my old golf was aswell.

Anyway, thanks for the welcoming and I'm sure you'll be hearing alot from me in the future.

                    Ta,

The zoom isn't good enough on it. Gotta get it right in there to get a decent photo to post on www.pornsnotjustforoldmen.com/justdesperateones and sometimes there's a bit molten going on down there. Get's right into the reflector.
