(1) Aren't these coolers designed to be fed from the top?

(2) A bit hard to tell from the pic, but the cooler looks to be slightly higher than the transmission. If so, wouldn't that cause the ATF to pewk out of the dipstick tube before you've got enough in there to reach the cooler?

Now i am questioning my positioning..... anyone know if he might be right and i am going to end up having to rethink my installation ????

1. It's fine

2. If it comes out of the dipstick, tell apache to go home...
if it comes out of the dipstick, you probably have WAY to much ATF in the pan.

It'll be OK where it is as the fluid is pumped through it anyway.
It'll only spurt out of the dipstick tube if there's too much fkuid in there or the fluid flow is restricted.
I mounted Lexurf V's behind the valance, plenty of space behind there for a cooler...

I looked at your installation on the lexurf but mine would not fit in that space.
Could be that i don't have a 2" body lift.
Oh well will try it as is and see.
Missed the damn post man so have to wait till monday to collect me parts.

And if i find apache spurting out me dipstick i'll send him home....

Should still fit behind there I would have thought, it's the same size cooler.
Did you see if it would fit behind there from underneath?

No didn't think of that.
Had the grill off and tried to lower it down from the top
Fouled on the chassis and bumper..
Well if this fails i can always try that.

id guess the cooler might airlock being downsideup - the atf is a low pressure system so it might drain as fast as it fills, it will always have an air pocket on the top side, means you'll always have a part full cooler which defeats the purpose of the cooler. you would need a bleed on the highest point of the cooler.

standing on end is ok - in the bottom out the top = no airlock.

i would turn it round so the air comes out as it fills - you could end up with very little cooling fitting it upside down

theres plenty room behind the bumper to mount it the right way up, the body lift has nothing to do with it as the bumper is lifted as well.

Ah air lock not sound good.....
Reason i put it there is aus site said fan will draw air when stood still aiding cooling.

No problems turning mine over just need to mash out some of the steel angle.
Job for tomorrow.......

Can't remember, I would have though bottom to top is better for consistant pressure.

All the other coolers I fit I have the connections at the bottom, its only cos that size don't fit long ways easily in front of the rad.

I don't often fit them like that much, sensible to try to keep them out the way of the main rad.
