  • Help needed; I have a wonky arse end!!

I only noticed today that my drivers rear is 2-3cm lower than passenger side, and it feels sloppy to drive at speed.

Does this sound like knackered shocks?

Prob so as I installed to RT+2 coils and didn't change shocks so they have been on their limit.

Which ones (+2's) do you recommend??

Wouldn't think it's the shocks, as they don't hold the truck up, they just stop it from bouncing to much on the springs.

The springs support the trucks weight, did you check and make sure you got the springs on the correct sides as I believe from memory that the drivers side is slightly longer to compensate for the fuel tank

Although it could be one of your shocks has been over extended and therefore spring on that side is less compressed

      mornin' all

i thought that the rear springs on a 2nd gen were different lengths as the drivers side is the same side as the fuel tank so that spring is longer - although I might be completely wrong

When the springs were fitted, if this is the case, did th longer one go on the drivers side??

If I am wrong then it's probably as already said in that the springs are sagging

      hope this helps

If the +2" springs were the same length then the drivers side will sag. As already mentioned the standard springs are longer on drivers side to account for weight of driver and petrol tank. When I used to fill mine up with fuel the leaning effect was so pronounced people would try to pull me over because they thought the suspension was damaged (probably doesn't help I'm a bit weighty :-S ). I have landcruiser springs.
If this is the case you have to put a spacer under the drivers side spring.
Also I've been told it could be nearside torsion bar wound up a little bit too much, but for me this wasn't the case.

Also forgot to mention that if you raise the drivers side further you might need to get a panhard rod drop bracket or an adjustable panhard rod or cut and weld it, otherwise the driveshaft may make contact with the petrol tank when offroad.

i,ve got rt+2" springs as well as desert fox +2" shocks sits nice and level, how long have they been on, if they have been on for a while and you have just noticed it could be broke spring, or if just fitted might have them on wrong side, hope this helps.

              Thanks lads.

No they are on the correct sides, yes the taller of the 2 is on drivers. Only had them since November so they cannot (or better not) be sagging. Not
Always been like it, so I think the drivers side shock is gone. Gonna order +2's from RT tomo.
The nearside TB was also my first thought but the front is perfectly level.
