Didn't they give you the option of a Driving training day rather than 3 points and a fine ? must admit my Brother-in-law had all on to hold his temper as they goaded him , expecting him to 'walk' so they could enforce the 3 points and extend the fine, but he was a good lad smiled sweetly and said yes sir no sir in all the right places ! They have just received their NRF Monies (Neighbourhood renewal fund) so Road safety will still be on the agenda so watch your speed on that route this summer !

When they first started this scheme there was no Penalty fee at all ! now it has gone up to £85, but as Bob says it saves 3 points adorning your licence however there are still regional differences with some local Forces not adopting or dropping the scheme in total, opting for the 'income only' strategy instead !

Yeah - as a Hampshire resident I'm damned glad I got nicked in Wiltshire !!!

(Even if it did mean driving up to Swindon to do the damned course)

nope, police just sent the fixed penalty thingy through the post - no option of a "driver awareness" course.

just paid the fine, took the point and moaned about it to anyone who would listen
