  • T-case prop seal

    hey fellas

wen i was under the surf today i noticed the transfer box was damp around
the front prop seal..so cleaned it up wit a bit of brake cleaner an checked it 2hrs later there was the smallest bit of oil had wept from the seal.

i was jus wonderin can that seal be replaced wen the transfer box is still in the truck??an will i need an specialist tools to replace it?

    thanks

Not of the top of my head, and not going out to garage now..

I'd put it back in the same place so the staked bit of the nut lines up again, then you've not altered anything.

rite i went at this today everythin came apart easy enough until i got to the center nut holdin the drive flange in place knocked the dimple out of the nut an stuck on 3/4 inch rachet bar had it in park and one the lads holdin the brakes...nut wouldn budge all it was doin was makin the truck lift up wen i tried to undo it.
so stuck a trolley jack under the handle of the rachet bar an jacked it up wit no luck all it seems to be doin it liftin the truck off the ground.

              any ideas??

Odd, don't remember having to many problems, always done them on my own. 4wd on, in Park over the pit and undo it.

Its a normal thread, not left handed.

Praps someone has locktite'd it on, you might need a 3/4" sized socket set and really long bar.

i was usin a 3/4'' socket set have a 1000mm long 3/4 breaker bar but didn have the room to use it could only get the 3/4 rachet bar on...but stuck the trolley jack under the handle of the rachet bar for more force an it jus lifted the truck...ill have to try get the use of a pit some where...i dont think its ever been opened before cos wat looks like factory markin paint is on the nut.
first time iv been defeated by a bolt an not been able to open it

                        mornin'

if all else fails try a little heat on the bolt - even one of those hand held butane thing's should be enough so the bolt expands and hopefully loosens.

If you don't go too mad you should even be able to re-use the bolt
