  • V-power. Any Difference?

right so its payday, so im thinking of filling up the 4runner with Shell V-power, but will it actually make any difference. I know that if you fill up every know and then its supposed to be good for the engine.
Dad fills up his van every now and then and he said it makes a huge difference in acceleration! much faster. But his is a 2008 transit, will it have such an effect in mine?

You're driving the wrong vehicle if you need rapid acceleration!

not too sure, but i work in a texaco, and our super unleaded is 1.369. V power diesel will probably be about 2-4p more

              It will make a difference.

              You'll have less money.

I watched a program a few years ago where they tested these fuels against normal fuels. They found that it only made a difference if the vehicles ECU could alter the fueling to match. Which tended to be either modern, or performance vehicles.

Could tell the difference in my ST205 (Oddly enough, Tesco's Super Unleaded was better than V-Power, and cheaper!), but the 2nd gen didn't mind whether it was Tesco's finest or filtered waste veg oil.

Dunno if this helps, but I used it in my 2nd gen honda preludes, both 8 and 16 valvers, and I must admit that it did make a considerable difference.
Though once I discovered it I seldom filled up with anything else.

But we all know that fuel companies don't want us to get tooo many mpg's don't we.

If you're going to spend any money stick some REDEX in to clean the injectors

I wouldn't waste my time with redex, it is yet to have any effect in any motor I've owned. I am just about to try a new product frok the states called bg244, it's not cheap at £26, so if it does turn out to be another snake oil I won't be happy.

I'm trying it in the mondeo first because the surf rarely goes out nowadays.

                          Its as Maverick says

Fifth gear did a great test a few years ago using 3 different vehicles on a dyno

If your engine has top end management system the gains are worth it, I think a Scooby Doo got an extra 40 bhp
But cheaper vehicles with budget ECU's noticed no difference..

Be interested to hear thoughts on this actually. I thought that REDEX was considered to work to clean the injectors and was worth using particularly if you use veg.

If theres anything substantiated to the contrary (or indeed to say it does work) it would be good to know.
Bottle of that evry few tanks almost doubles my fuel cost

A pint of unleaded in the tank does the same thing.
