It states that if anyone "keeps anything on land which, if it escapes causes damage", the owner is fully responsible. That includes animals, vehicles, etc. There is NO defence to this. The insurance company should pay up without any problem. If they quibble, try that on them (but check with a solicitor first that's it's still valid law as I learn that about 25 years ago).
    Cheers,found out today the insurance company IS paying up,take the Surf in tomorrow to have the damaged body parts removed then repaired(prob a 2 day job)so I ain't going to be without a motor(whoooopeeeee).

      nick the dogs and sell em, decent sheepdogs must be worth a few quid, it,ll cause the farmer some bother as well, or kidnap them and send a note(made from cut-out newspaper letters) saying the ransom is 4 surf mudflaps or the dogs sleep with the fishes
