Towbar drop plate question...

Right then looking for a drop plate so i can hook up a tin snail without dragging its arsenal along the ground.....
Also want it to be removable so don't go ploughing fields when out in the rough stuff.....
Looked at reciever hitches and thought mmmmmm i could mod mine then buy
the insert with lower ball position....
Then had a brain fart what if i brought one of these and mounted it back to front....




So bolt the 6 hole plate to my existing towbar and use the larger plate to adjust height and then be able to remove it by pulling out pins....

What do you think......

So, would the caravan be being held on solely by the pins?

I mean, I'm sure they are strong but there would probably be play.

Or am I looking at it wrong?

Those drop plates are fine.I have seen a couple of LR's with them reversed like you want to do

I had assumed that was the way to put them on in the first place...

Seemed logical that you shift the drop plate out of the way when nothing is hooked up anyway.

Your supposed, as far as i know, bolt the larger piece to the truck and slide the smaller piece up and down.....



But i think the other way is much better.....

Certainly makes more sense to me being the "wrong way round" but my only concerns would be the strength of it and any possible play causing your tin snail to weave around...
