George, How do I go about finding stuff?
I have a metal detector,
There were Roman settlements near to where I live. Romans
Do I just go and start looking or are there cunning plans to be made first?

See, I don't know how it's done, If I go running around digging random holes will it draw attention to me? Do I ask permission first? how deep do metal detectors 'see'.
I bought mine on a whim and have never used it.

right you need to get to grips with your detector first have you ever set it up?

well metal detecting is legal in Serbia

set up your metal detector up by useing gold and silver and a few coins

you should beable to turn off iron so you just find nonferris metal only
