What are you charging with them?

I have a cigarrete - USB female adapter in mine. This way I can plug in any USB cable and it also just blanks off the cigarrete lighter permenantly.

The reason why I ask what you are charging with them is because my HTC phone, when using it as a sat-nav consumes more power than what is available via USB charging. This poses a problem where at some point the battery will eventually run flat even when charging.

To work around this issue, I made sure I bought a cigarrette lighter usb adapter that is capable of supplying 1amp. I then opened the adapter and shorted the middle two pins of the USB together. This is how the phone knows whether it is connected via USB such as a laptop or via A/C. Now, when I plug the phone in, it detects the charging method as A/C and draws 800ma instead of the <400ma which is the max USB ports can usually provide. Now I can run sat-nav, stream MP3 to the stereo and charge the phone.
I used this one from Maplins: http://www.maplin.co.uk/micro-dc-to-usb-adaptor-274029

I'm only charging a basic phone, but someone who bought one a while ago says "its a 1 amp charger. shows AC charging on my San Fran."
For 99p inc delivery it's worth a try anyway.
