          Is your mate a mechanic?

What is the significance of this question?

Why shouldn't a Carpet fitter look at it?

No reason I suppose. I'm just curious as to why it needs a new diff., I was going to ask for his diagnosis.

It might just need a re-stretch and some new door bars.

Actually, the more I think about it, the less I care.

Please don't stop caring - it provides cheap entertainment on a wet and miserable day !

Life is too important to take seriously !

hes not a mechanic for his job,but is very mechanically minded, anyway hes built his own off road truck and various others from scratch so im guessing he knows his stuff, anyway, there loads of play in the driveshaft where it goes into the diff and some splines are sheared on i think he said the crown gear{excuse me if thats not right{basically just order a new diff he said}.please dont stop caring about me ,im needy

Clean the whole area up first.

Take the diff cover off and inspect it yourself first.

You will need to do this before ordering any replacement parts
